Eilan's experiences...

gestern abend gabs noch ein paar minuspunkte fuer australien: eine kakerlake im wohnzimmer - hab mich heldenhaft auf dem hoechsten couch-teil verschanzt bis der boden wieder sicher war. mag die viecher einfach nicht, generell sind mir aller kaeferartigen wesen suspekt, dafuer sind mir wieder spinnen egal.... und die gestern war ein besonders fettes exemplar, baeh!

heute war ich in dem statdviertel paddington auf einem netten markt, bin aber glaub ich zu sehr von camden lock verwoehnt, jedenfalls war ich dann ein wenig enttaeuscht - zwar sehr flippige leute, aber wenig standeln mit wirklich genialen sachen, hat sich nicht wirklich gelohnt so weit deswegen zu fahren. sind dann weiter nach cronulla, ein vorort (mehr eine vorstadt) von sydney - strand, geschaefte schauen (wirklich nur schauen ;-) ), beach-atmosphaere geniessen.

klassisches 3. tag syndrom heute - bin muede, muede, muede... daher heute auch kein englisch-geschriebsel.

after sleeping really long sightseeing in sydney on day 2:

beginning at darling harbour - just experiencing the atmosphere there as well as shopping, strolling around, relaxing... and again: palms everywhere (definitely my town!);
glimpses:
the monorail "sex above the city" - a penny for your thoughts ;-)
die australier sind sehr viel konsequenter als die briten: stehen auf der rolltreppe links, gehen rechts!
nearly nobody smokes, manchmal hab ich echt das gefuehl die leute schauen einen beim rauchen auch seltsam an.
ausser zigaretten alles serh viel billiger als bei uns, lebenskosten ca die haelfte, sehr genial zum shoppen :-)

afterwards a walk through the real city to the botanic gardens - fascinating! besides all the various plants (palms again, just to be sure) I've never seen that much "vampires" on one place - so called flying foxes - really big and scary!
and of course I had to see the place where MI II has been filmed, a lawn at the north part of the botanic gardens offering a terrific view towards harbour bridge and the sydney opera house. Found it! - but in reality it's actually much smaller. which is not true for the opera, it's huge. they didn't let us pass into the concert area, wondering why ;-)

total k.o. dann heimwaerts raus nach sutherland - mit dem auto! und sie lassen sich einfach nicht umgewoehnen, auch wenn man ihnen den rechtsverkehr nach einer abzweigung vorfuehrt... ausser einem adrenalinstoss aber nix gewesen.

back home, finally with a chinese take away menu (auch hier gibts keine genialen verpackungen a la hollywood filme, wieder nur plastik-bacherln, damn!).
tired!!!

the other end of the world:

arriving in sydney - it's a huge, huge city!
but a very green one and what I love most is that there are palms almost everywhere - yeah, I'm staying, this is my town!!!

programme for today: relaxing on the beach - can you imagine the feeling laying on bondi beach - yes, THE bondi beach - facing the pacific ocean before you, melting in the sun (aproximately 30 degrees) and suddenly realizing that it's the 5th of february?
Of course I got sun-burned - and before smiling knowingly, dear flatmate ;-) , I DID use some of this disgusting fluid called sun protection, even a 30+!
what else? amazing waves - never seen ones that high and strong before, salty water - well, obviously ;-), loads of surfers and other beach boys - didn't know how tanned people can get! and, on the whole, one of the most impressive landscapes I've ever seen.

aber das war als ich noch nicht die kuestenstrasse entlang gefahren bin: naturgewalt pur - die klippen, das meer, der wind, die gischt .... abgewechselt von den genialsten traumstraenden die man sich nur vorstellen kann: tamarama beach, bronte beach, botany bay, coogee beach.. reizueberflutung, nicht mit worten beschreibbar.

on the way home a visit in an aussie super market - for fun, I simply like visiting super markets in other countries just to see what they have and we are missing: vinegar chips for example - I love them (so please, mr. supplier, could you organise them to be stored in austria as well?!).

Nachher nur mehr heim, muede vom sonnen-tag und die zeitumstellung macht mir auch noch ein wenig zu schaffen - bin heute morgen schon um halb 7 aufgestanden, freiwillig wohlgemerkt!!

the flight: long, exhausting and especially non-smoking. but actually it wasn't that hard, in kuala lumpur I had the chance to smoke even 2 cigarettes but for the rest of the flight I didn't even use my "nicorette";

...10 stunden zwischen 2 zigaretten und das obwohl ich wach war - kann mich nicht erinnern wann ich das das letzte mal geschafft habe...* juhu, freu, bin doch nicht so abhaengig wie gedacht!*
